Making Plans...We recently managed to hold our first in-person committee meeting since March, adhering to social distancing rules. Only three of us were physically present, with a further two committee members joining us via video call. The obvious topic of conversation: just what do we do whilst things are still so up in the air? The most important response we came up with was engagement. Staying focused whilst we're not only unable to rehearse together, but whilst many of us are doing keyworker jobs, shielding or caring for someone vulnerable, is no easy feat. But we're all of the view that More Harmony are a family and we'll weather this storm the way we do everything else: together. Being a small chorus has its perks; we discussed the idea of outdoor section rehearsals, with only 5 or 6 people in attendance, standing 2m apart and singing outwards rather than facing anyone. Meet-ups in quartets is another option we've toyed with and regular online section rehearsals are also a possibility, moving forwards. We have a wonderful version of the Queen and David Bowie classic, Under Pressure, arranged for us by our very own MD Lesley, which we're keen for our members to start learning at home, ahead of an eventual virtual performance video being put together. We've also made plans for 2021, with the first themed term of the year chosen as Back To The 80s! Obviously, we're very hopeful that we'll all be back at Wadebridge Ambulance Hall by then, so if you're a budding singer and you feel like breaking out your shoulder pads and puff-ball skirts, come along and join us! We've got some absolute classics in the repertoire for our 80s term and we are incredibly excited to learn them and share them with the world. Before we get there though, we've got the small matter of our ten year anniversary in September! We're planning lots of virtual celebrations, so keep an eye on our social media pages to see how you can get involved! We hope you're all staying safe. x |
