Going back to the 80's!

January may have seen a return to virtual rehearsals for the foreseeable future, but it hasn't dampened our spirits, here at More Harmony!  We're now two months into our first term of 2021 and the theme is "Back To The 80's."  So far, we've been polishing off a few songs familiar to us, such as Super Trouper and The Longest Time, as well as taking the plunge and learning some from scratch, like the weepy classic Wind Beneath My Wings.  We're also rather excited to start work on a brand new arrangement of Only You, put together by our very own MD!  We've been having a great time this term, keeping rehearsals fun and engaging, despite being separated due to lockdown.  And, as you can see, we even had an 80's costume night recently, where we dressed up in clothes befitting the decade!  Our Membership Secretary Sarah-Lou even dug out the outfit she wore to see David Bowie back in the 80's (and made us all very jealous with stories about the concert!).

Last month, we held our very first virtual AGM and had a few changes on our committee, with the adorementioned Sarah-Lou stepping down as Co-Chairman to take on the position of Membership Secretary.  We also had the lovely Maggi and Liz join the committee, sharing the role of Chorus Secretary.  Whilst we're all looking forward to being able to do these things in person, it has been good to stretch our capabilities and learn how to utilise technology a little better!  We plan on live-streaming rehearsals once we're able to sing at the Ambulance Hall once more, so that anyone unable to be there physically will have the chance to join in from home.  It should also give prospective members a chance go watch from the comfort of their own lounges or bedrooms before taking the plunge and joining us at the hall!  Even during lockdown, we've had enquiries from people looking to join our friendly group of singers, so we can't wait to welcome them to a "proper" rehearsal when life finally goes back to normal.

Until then of course, we'll be online every Thursday night - if you're a woman aged 16 or over and you love to sing, please do email us if you'd like to be sent a link to come along and see whether a cappella might be for you!  We welcome anyone wanting to travel back to the 80's with us, this term.  Leg warmers are entirely optional...
