getting our quizzing hats on!

March seems to have flown by for us; we can hardly believe the month is almost at an end!

We've been lucky enough to start learning a brand new song this month, arranged for us by our very talented MD, Lesley.  It's a really beautiful version of Yazoo's Only You and is the final song in our Back To The 80's term.  We've had an absolute blast dusting off some old favourites this term, as well as getting to grips with some entirely new songs.  We feel like we've really boosted our repertoire and we can't wait to sing for audiences again when it's safe to do so!

Our theme for our summer term is "Sunny Songs" and we're all excited to get cracking on some really fun, up-tempo numbers that'll have everyone dancing, regardless of whether the sun shines or not!

It hasn't just been singing that has occupied our minds this month, however.  On the last Thursday of March, we swapped rehearsal night for a quiz night, to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.  This is a cause very close to our hearts as a chorus and when we discovered that Friday 26th March was "Wear A Hat For Brain Tumour Research Day," we knew we couldn't let the occasion pass unmarked.  We were thrilled to be joined by family members and friends for this event, as well as some of the ladies from the amazing Avon Harmony, based in Bristol!  It was a hugely entertaining evening of music-quizzing, laughter and catch-ups and we're thrilled to announce that we raised over £140 for a cause we're so proud to support.  A special mention should be given to the winning team, Like Mother, Like Daughter, a duo formed by our fabulous tenor Lowenna and her daughter Annabelle.  Together, they scored a whopping 86 out of 100 points and won themselves a £20 Amazon voucher!

With the relaxing of Covid restrictions across England from today, we're feeling really positive about moving forwards as a chorus.  Our section leaders will be getting together this weekend for an outdoor run-through of our current repertoire, ahead of when full-chorus, outdoor rehearsals can begin (as of the week beginning April 12th).  We've taken the decision to hold these outdoor rehearsals at weekends and keep our regular Thursday night rehearsals online for the time-being, to ensure we provide a chance to rehearse in some form for all of our members, including any who are unable to attend in-person.  We're still open to new members, particularly as things begin to open up again (we've actually gained two fantastic new members in the last few weeks!), so if you're interested in singing with us, please do email us and we'll be happy to chat to you about all we're doing to keep our members safe as we return to "real-life" rehearsals.

We can't wait to be back singing together in person again!
