We hope to see you on Thursday 6th November at Wadebridge Ambulance Hall, for More Harmony’s Festive Open Rehearsal. It’s free to attend, but we’ll be holding a prize raffle for Marie Curie, with tickets costing £1 a strip, should you wish to join in.
It promises to be an evening filled with singing - and a lot of fun - so we thought we’d share a few details about what to expect…
What To Bring
We recommend bringing a bottle of water - singing is thirsty work! As it’s a “festive” rehearsal, if you’d like to wear a Christmas jumper, please do (it’s not compulsory, but our chorus members will probably break out theirs!). Other than that, all you need to bring is your enthusiasm!
What To Expect
Rehearsal starts at 7:15pm, but the doors open just before 7pm to allow our members to catch up before we begin. So, if you arrive early, you can be assured of friendly faces waiting to greet you!
Singing is a workout, so we start with a physical and vocal warm-up. However, our physical warm-up is usually gentle (please don’t worry that we’ll have you doing advanced cardio!) and you can sit out any exercises that are uncomfortable - enjoying yourself is the most important thing.
After the warm-up, our Musical Director, Lesley, will have you sing a few notes so she can put you into the correct section for your vocal range. You’ll do this individually, in a private space, so please don’t be nervous - it’s important that you’re in the right section so you get the most out of singing and don’t strain your voice.
You’ll then be shown to your section so you can get started! We’ll be learning two festive songs - Christmas Chopstix and Jingle Bells. You don’t have to be note or word perfect right away, so don’t worry - most of our singers learn by ear (music reading is not a requirement to join More Harmony), so listen carefully and join in when you feel comfortable. Everyone at More Harmony was new once, so you’ll never be rushed and you’ll be given lots of support!
After section practise, we’ll sing together as a chorus - you’ll be positioned beside an experienced member of your section, so you’ve got help on hand if you need it. Following tea break, we’ll get back into our sections to go through our second song of the night and repeat the process all over again!
We’ll then have tea break, giving you a chance to chat and get to know everyone. There’ll also be an opportunity to purchase tickets for our prize raffle, with all proceeds going to Marie Curie.

More Harmony rehearsals are often full of laughter and we hope that our Festive Open Rehearsal will be a fun, supportive place for you to try singing a cappella with us.
